Vatos is a picturesque village located in the central part of Corfu Island, Greece. It is situated in a valley surrounded by olive groves, cypress trees, and citrus orchards. The village is known for its traditional architecture, narrow streets, and quaint houses with flower-filled gardens. It is an ideal place to explore for those who seek to experience authentic Corfiot culture.

  • One of the most notable attractions in Vatos is the 16th-century Monastery of Myrtiotissa. It is located on the top of a hill with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The monastery has a rich history and is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It was destroyed by the Ottoman Turks in the 17th century and was later rebuilt in the 18th century.

The museum exhibits various tools and equipment used for harvesting and processing olives, and visitors can even taste the freshly produced olive oil.

  • For those seeking outdoor activities, the village is close to some of the best beaches on the island, such as Glyfada and Kontogialos. Visitors can also go hiking in the nearby hills and explore the beautiful countryside.

  • In the village, visitors can find authentic tavernas serving traditional Corfiot cuisine and local delicacies, as well as cafes and bars to enjoy a drink or snack.
